V&H Classic 2's, awesome sound, horrible install.

I got my new pipes on after much foul language and busting every knuckle i've got. I love the sound but the install was horrible. I have to wonder if V&H did any fitment testing what so ever. If it weren't for the pipe expander I'd have gone completely crazy. The angled connector pipes were the same diameter as the muffler inlet! I think V&H spent all the R&D time on developing the sound and ZERO time on actual fitment. I also had to order new gaskets because the 8000+ miles on my bike were not good to the stock gaskets and I was so frustrated with the pipes fitment that I tore the stock gaskets all to pieces, as opposed to taking a hammer to the whole bike. So, in conclusion, awesome sound without the packing in the baffles. However, if your considering these pipes for your S50/VS800, be prepared for one heck of a time installing them.

For the $$ I paid I expected a perfect product but to this day have not gotten it. DG aka HK finally gave up on me, got tired of not being able to make a pipe worth the $$ they charge. So if you see me post at times and say HK SUX I generally am referring to their customers service, poor product vs $$.

BTW, HK SUX!!!!

I installed the dynojet kit, made some slight adjustment to the pipes positioning. I did notice a slight decrease in torque, but the gain in the smoothness of the engine and the increase in shift points completely made up for it, not to mention the awesome sound of the pipes. I removed the packing straight out of the box because I just had to know what they would sound like. The jet kit installation was surprisingly easy, I was expecting it to suck as bad as the pipes installation. All in all, I'm very happy with the pipes and jet kit performance, the pipes could have been designed better but I survived the install, minus only some knuckle skin, and they were on sale. The funny thing is I was dead set on the HK Drag Slip-ons until I heard a set of V&H Classic 2's. I'm glad I didn't go with them after reading your testimonial. I would post pics of the bike now but the exhaust looks almost exactly like the stockers.
