V for Vendetta

Not The Odeon this time, fortunately i was able to go to a cinema with as many people as there were seats, thank god... I'm not gonna lie to you, one my main reasons behind going to watch V for Vendetta was the baldness of Natalie Portman, intruiging, perplexing, maybe even sexy? Who knows eh, who knows...

V for Vendetta stars Natalie Portman as Evey, a young and innocent woman caught up in the totalitarian society she finRAB herself within. Set in an alternate London where a government ruled by a select few has taken over the country, V is the masked avenger determined to spread his message of freedom across the land. Played by Hugo Weaving, V is a veritable concoction of poetry, knife-wielding and freedom fighting warrior. When V starts to show Evey the society in which she has grown up, the government

Here is the review from the BBC website for V For Vendetta:

"From the makers of The Matrix... Starring Natalie Portman of Star Wars... Adapted from Alan Moore

I enjoyed it but it really was an American's idea of what Britain is. How many times did they try to slip in British slang and mess up? I mean who has ever said "bollocksed up"? And Portmans accent was a complete mess. But it had more positives than negatives. I went in not expecting much, what with all the bad reviews. So I was pleasantly surprised.

Well, I'm disillusioned with our current political leaders, so I'll probably like it!

Can no one interpret the works of Mr Moore??

It's based on a British comic book, so aside from a few slight changes to dialogue it was a 80s British view of what near future Britain might be.

I've said that before. I know others who do, too. Seemed natural dialogue to me, and the least of this films worries.

It truly was awful, wasn't it?.

Oh yeah I know that. I mean the amount of times they would stick in a specifically British swear stuck out. Like an American who keeps saying 'bloody' even though it sounRAB wrong. Plus that whole Benny Hill thing was a very strange thing. Definitely an American take on things. But other than that I had no real complaints.

I got to see this at last yesterday and I really enjoyed it. I cant understand why the majority of the reviews for this film have been negative. It is one of the best films I have seen so far this year and I will definalty be buying this when it is released on DVD!
I also must however get around to reading the graphic novel to see how the film does compare to that!
