V For Vendetta

I saw one thread about this film a few pages away, but it was more about the trailers and such, so I hope no one minRAB a new thread, I haven't seen one to discuss the film yet. But anyways..

In my opinion, this film was amazing, especially towarRAB the end. I can't really believe that I liked it so much, after watching it I looked around for the comic book, but didn't have enough money..

I must admit that bits went right over my head, but I understood the general plot and as I said, the ending was great, I think that the 'twist' was very clever. It's odd how I think that it's such a possible event, the government becoming controlling..

It was a great use of a few hours, although I did get a little bored in the middle when I didn't think much was happening. I sat and watched the credits for a while too, not sure why.. I was 'fascinated' by the fighting scene and then all of the copycat Vs walking through London and then the eventual ending around parliament.

Those who I saw it with would have liked to see the face of V, but I didn't feel that I wanted to and I didn't understand why some of those apparently already killed returned towarRAB the end, with the everyone removing their masks.

Anyways, what did you guys think of it?

I'm not sure, but it was well worth it. I hadn't heard of this film last year, maybe there was too much competition.

Can I just check - is it British made?

I saw this film yesterday and although I nejoyed the plot and the storyline and all the special effects very much. The terrorist acts did leave a sour taste in my mouth. The film was delayed because of the London bombings last year.
Can you blame them, the story and V's final act are eerily similar. I don't want to give too much away.
Both my husband and I were both left feeling slightly queasy watching big Ben being blown up. These things seem all too realistic these days.

So yes we loved the film, but we still disagree with any acts of terrorism or violence to get any message across.

From what I interpreted, there are several messages. People being persecuted for being different. If we are not careful this is our future, etc etc. The references to the holocaust are hard to miss.

It must have been a pretty drastic measure for V to take by blowing up parliament. I only hope people aren't stupid enough to think this violent act is the way people should deal with the situation if they don't like be told what to do by the government.

There are people today who think this version of Britain is not far off from reality.

So if I missed the message, please educate me crazydave.

I saw V blow up parliment, makes me wana do it, infact i'll go and get the fertiliser now. I saw the hills have eyes too, made me wana spray myself with nuclear waste and become a serial killing family......

I thought that the act of 'terrorism' was the building being blown up without anyone inside, it was at midnight, right? So it was attacking the icon instead of the people to who it may be an icon. Real life terrorism appears to be attacking people instead of icons.

I expect the film could be easily adapted to an American audience, maybe in a remake, but hopefully not.. Just editing the scenes with references to America and maybe it being another country, like maybe China. But I don't think the makers would have thought that far ahead.

How does the film differ from the comic? I know there is a new and an old comic, what are the differences in them, or are they the same?

quite a lot go to ugn.com then search or click on V vs V. One thing evey is 16 in the comic. I liked it but in a bit of a hurry so can't so in to it much.lol I am scaried that the person likened the london bombs to the one in the film. The one in the film was to better the country and for good (over all) and I think everyone will agree that the july bombs were not that.

i din't really want to see the face of v either, although the kissing scene was rather... odd to say the least.

The people all taking off masks who were dead, i velive has something to do with 'ideas don't die'... and its all an idea. Remeber that the matrix duo are involved here!...

Either way was a great film, although does seem rather like it could happen in real life, but definatly worth seeing. If just for the amazing ending.

I think the quote that will live on is 'People shouldn't fear their governments... governments should fear their people'. which sums up the film!.

When i went to see it, it was in a relativly large screen and it was almost empty, it seems a shame, but hopefully it will fill up!...

i can see those V Mask's going as popular as the scream ones.
