Hello community,

So here is my question. I am highly interested in car audio, and would like to use some comps from an old setup I had. I have 4x Alpine Type S 6.5" coax that I plan to build individual boxes for. I will power them using the an old HU that came from that same old build. My question is how to power the HU so that I can power the speakers using the internal 25x4rms amp in HU.

Thanks
I could get a motorcycle 12v battery, and wire a small 12vdc transformer in parrellel to it to keep it charged. However, what would I use as the transformer.

Well I really have no clue how to do this safely, but my guess would be to take a double insulated Extension chord. Cut the end that doesn't plug into the wall. Then you will have a positive negative and a ground wire to power the head unit.

Personally i would NOT do this. Because i don't know if it would work I'm just brainstorming. I don't see why it wouldn't.

Additional

I thought about this for a while and its just a bad idea. i would not do it the way i said at all because a car battery is 12 volts and a outlet in a house is 120 volts. So it would just be bad.

I do like your idea about charging a battery. I thought of that also, but you will now have an exposed battery that is being charged when you listen to you stereo. This may become a hazard depending on who is in you house.
