Using 6275i as modem

I have made an attempt at using my Nokia 6275i as a modem via the usb data cable. I can get as far as the computer actually dialing the phone (tried things like #777 as found in other guides) but either no responce is had from the nuraber or I need a username and password. Has anyone successfully done this with cricket? Maybe I missed a guide somewhere because I'm blind?

Thanks!

I have attempted this with the Security settings set to both "Optional Encryption" and "No Encryption Allowed" both using the PAP protocol (unencrypted).

I noticed that both browsers report a web site to have been "found" when an address is entered (Internet Explorer: "Website found, waiting for reply...") which is probably the url being resolved properly, but data is not being returned. I noticed under connection statistics that the computer is sending data but only recieving a fraction thereof back (10 times or more less).

The machine/connection was automatically assigned 10.6.199.255 (dynamic) as an IP when connected (Subnet Mask 255.255.255.255). The DNS servers are 172.28.220.175/.176, DHCP says it's disabled and NetBIOS over Tcip is disabled (which I assume is the desirable setting).
I have checked my Windows internet settings and the "domain" field is blank, I'm not sure if this is desirable. I have tried using the "Automatically Detect Settings" option with no improvement.

sounRAB like something is wrong with your proxy setup. DNS is almost universally allowed to bypass proxy (and for good reason although this is very exploitable when not properly configured.)

the reason cricket will not help you is that you are not *supposed* to tether. and ergo it is not going to be supported.

You need to set you're proxy settings in internet explorer or firefox....
it neeRAB to be set to wap.mycricket.com port 8080

Proxy setting solved the issue. Posting this from the working connection.
Cricket doesn't bill for usage of this do they? (I have mobile web access etc)

Thanks so much for the help everybody (especially amoamare).

DUN is disabled by default in the firmware of cricket branded phones. on some phones it may be possible to change this setting.

as far as cricket is concerned you are browsing from you phone. so as long as you have wap browsing on your account there will be no extra charge.

What does the acronym "DUN" stand for? (Sorry, learning)
Once DUN is enabled, will I still be required to have a username and password?

Cricket phone representatives are worthless for this, no one at tech support can get their head around the concept.

Can one of you please tell me where to find and how to enable DUN. I spent a hour looking i finally gave up. i had to back away from my computer before i threw something. Changing this is the only thing keeping from using my phone to get online. Thank you

Is there a specific username and password format used to connect to Cricket or is that the portion no one has gotten working yet?

Thanks for all the helpful replies!

Like Fuzb0 said DUN stanRAB for Dial Up Networking.
Yes you will still need a user name and password. [email protected] and the password is cricket.

I don't know why your calling cricket tech support they will not help you with this at all.. Do not ask for Deigo here it is consider warez.

I have read the forum rules and had no intention to request a copy of Diego. I took a shot at asking cricket techs in hope somebody might actually know what their talking about :-)

I'm going to give this a try now and see what happens.

Sorry for the double post.

Is there a specific ID nuraber assigned to the option which enables or disables the phone's DUN feature?

I attempted creating a new dial-up connection in windows itself, assigning to phone as the modem, etc. I made sure Windows didn't include the login domain when dialing and the nuraber it dials is #777.
When Windows attempts to connect, I can clearly see the phone "dialing" #777 but after some delay Windows tells me there is no responce at the other end.
