using 2.0 bluetooth dongle on a 1.1 or 1.2 device

I'm interested in purchasing a Bluetooth adapter from EBAY, but I want to make an educated decision. I have a 6682, and I believe that the Bluetooth version is either 1.1 or 1.2.

My question is, if I purchase a USB v2.0 Bluetooth adapter, would I then be able to transfer files to my phone at v2.0 rates? Would the speed cap to my phone's Bluetooth speed, or be incompatible?
 
Bluwtooth is backwards compatible interoperable with older version.
So if the adaptor is v2.0 and the device is bluetooth v1.1 or 1.2 it will work at the speed of version 1.2 or 1.1 and with the features of v.1/1 or 1.2.

Basically bluetooth operates at the highest standard that both devices support.
