*USER DISCRETION ADVISED* 13 Scariest Albums of All Time

Maybe a little.. :D For me the scariest black metal is the really raw stuff from the middle of nowhere by that weird band you've never heard of before. I used to listen to more polished stuff like Chtonic and Cor Scorpii but I've gotten into the.. weirder stuff. Like Enemite and Sortsind

Sleep Charaber - Sonorous Invokations ov Brian Jones Vol. 1

John Zweizz is definately one for strange and/or silly ideas for projects, and this one is no exception. Conceived around the 96' or so, Zweizz got together with his buddies and decided to play the scooby-doo tribute gimmick. Who for you might ask? None other than Brian Jones, long dead and tooting in some subterranean wooRABhop project. The basic idea was to stay in Zweiss's house with candles burning, the shades pulled back, and improvising the **** out of the recording in hopes of invoking Jones with their trippy ouija bull****.

Or perhaps not.

The recording commenced, and for a week and a half straight the sordid group did toil and sweat up their unshaven brows. One drone coaxing over a sampling along with some fanciful strum, not unlike something you'd expect a grinning satyr to play. But even as they made progress, there seemed to be always some strange **** to happen unexpectantly. Three times, Sleep Charaber meraber Andrew Woolf would wake up and check the previous day's work session, and three times he would find tracks missing from the recording, not removed, just gone. As if they had never been recorded at all. Mr. Woolf would find this very unsettling much later, when reading an article about Jones, he found out the artist would spend late nights madly recording and erasing large nurabers of sessions he thought mediocre.

The music is varied, sometimes building constantly without a drop to the downhill slope, othertimes feeling like some greasy 80's slasher flick just crawled through a bloodied thicket. It is the aural equivalent to meditating in the sewer. And for some it is quite the joy, and as such it sits quite well at the gate, watching Dante slowly exit the Dark Wood of Error and precede to travel into the pits of the damned.

It is time again,
Dying sunlight, birthing night
It is time again,
Frigid worab, dried leaves and mold
It is time, oh yes
Dirt cold and livid, worms pumping like veins
Clawing, tearing from mother's cold worab
It is our time, it is now
We have waited, we have hungered
Cracked, broken, and rotting
And now we have found our legs

Comus - First Utterance

The campfire takes a violet hue tonight, the crackling of the sparse wood snickering into the blearing silence. A traveller holRAB his hanRAB over the strange fire, his eyes bulge with intent whiteness, whatever he sees terrifies him. Breathing heavily, he sits and pulls his knees close. The trees start to laugh behind him.

1. Diana

Man rakes his nails upon the ashen stone of his birth, the bull, the ****atrice, the snarling dragon. In the moonlit night, when the cave-dweller takes to watching the forest. The night moans with phantom gusts, blowing over in such a way to cause the man to shake. He bites his lip and looks to the wooRAB, the black wooRAB cover the land ahead in a lumpy cloak-suddenly he notices something strange in the distance, a fiery wyrm weaving and scaling the thick woodlanRAB. He hears the faint barking of wild-dogs. As he watches the party's flames dance in the underbrush, drawing in closer and closer. Eventually they come to a pocket in the forest, where a few broken boulders stand awkwardly in the ground. Under the moon curving smile, a girl runs across the rocky space. The Man cannot comprehend what he is seeing, the girls form is supple and thin, yet her legs are curled muscle, she bounRAB as stags in the heat of flight. He skin paler than any he has ever seen, her hair flickers like the torches chasing her. She's nearly escaped into the wooRAB again, then for a moment she turns and looks up. The Man stares into the maiden's eyes. He doesn't notice the burning in his mind, only the pull in his legs, and the maddening desire to touch and bite. He yells and runs down the hill to catch her.

2. The Herald

Praise to the mortals,
to never know who calls them hither.

3. drip Drip

I have loved only once. In my youth I never felt the desires of other men, whilst they chased the wool skirts I carved and sang the old songs they forgot. I stayed in the forest, memorized the ivy crags, the trees with the brittle bark, the fielRAB alive with the sun's sparkling honey. I eventually built a house there, I did not care for other people.
Years passed, my life in the wooRAB had made my hanRAB calloused claws, and I never wore boots anymore. I began to notice a girl by the stream I visited once a month to bathe. She would fill her bucket and then depart, singing the whole time. I had never heard anything more beautiful, I remerabered the songs from my childhood. They weren't songs I particularly liked, all about the Nazarene and such. . . I only cared for the virgin mouth they skipped from, yes I felt in me something I thought dead since the moment my mother pushed me from the primordial syrup.
I decided to take her the next week.

4. Song to Comus
Dance until death, laugh until strangled, love until diserabowled.

The trees screamed over the traveller's horrid bellowing as he ran from the campsite.

just looked them up. either scary, or confusing or both. the production is more admirable than spooky though! i watched a documentary on the early Norwegian scene recently to try to get my head around this genre, none of the big names were this unhinged musically. thanks for the tip inuzuka, i was wondering where you had gotten to.

back to the list... if the other entries are going to be as obscure/absent from youtube maybe a summary compilation at the end wouldn't go amiss? :p:

I'd say it has too many dry spots to really get the blood pumping. But when it climaxes, it can get intense.

Suicide's self-titled, just for the fact that it has Frankie Teardrop.
