Used phone for current Sprint service?

I was just wondering what happens if I find a nice used phone from somewhere else and I want to use it instead of the current phone I am using. I have sprint service right now. Does it cost money? Will they even let me use it? How does it work? Thanks in advance.
 
it depends on the phone information. if the phone is registered, then sprint will not let you register the phone on ur account. however it does not cost money to put a phone on ur account
