Use different mail accounts for different things?

Here's the situation:
I have a Droid Incredible in transit to my house.
But I have some email dillemmas.
I use my gmail account to sync my Google Calendar and Contacts, but for email, I use an IMAP account. Is it possible to use the contacts and calendar from the Google account but use the Mail from the IMAP?

hi,
i have this setup on my htc desire.
it works a treat.
I don't use gmail at all, but i use calender and contacts.
htc sense i think runs my contacts but it's synced with my gmail address book.
I did not need to download a seperate mail app form the market. i don't know what version of android your phone runs though.

Get your contacts and calender working, then go into
mail (it will be your gmail)
at the very top on the left should be a tiny white circle with a down arrow, tap it
select New Account
select Other (pop3/IMAP)
and add your settings.
all done :0)

Yep - this is totally possible as other people have said. This is how I first started using Android. It comes with a GMail app, and an Email app. You never have to run the GMail app, ever, if you don't want to. The Email app supports POP3 and IMAP. However, it's utterly crap. Even the replacements on the Market aren't much better.

I don't find it that bad. Tooo few options perhaps

i wonder if my (Sense?) mail app is the same as other 2.1 phones, and if they are the same as 1.x versions?
