use built in Chat application with Data! mobjab.com

Hi

Yes. With regards to yahoo messenger there are issues with couple of nokia handsets viz N-95 and E-62 and E61i there are issues we are aware about not getting the messages.

Regarding the status of yahoo contacts its an issue at our side where the presenece is not getting relayed properly and we are working on that.

Im not sure if the mobjab server is down. But I cant log in and havent been able to for about 4 days now. I'm used to not being able to log in occasionally and automatically assume that that server is being maintained but its been quite a while and I dont know whats going on.

Can someone have a look at my mobjab account for me? I havent changed anything at all on my handset and it was working fine up until about 4 days ago. :-s

Any advice on a fix is very welcome.

Thank you :-)

I work in mobiles - and I have recommended this site to nearly all my customers. If there is anyone in Australia who is reading these forums who isnt sure what the data charges will be... This may help...

Im with Telstra, I pay $10 per month for 150MB of data - I use a Sony Ericsson W880i (which I love to death) and I NEVER exceed my data allowance infact I use about 30% of that and I chat on "My Friends" twice a day for about an hour each time (on the bus to and from work).

I cant say whether these charges would be the same for any other brand of mobile, but the Sony Ericsson has a pretty simple interface so I dont imagine the text would be racking up heaps in data.

That said, I have had to opt for a summarised phone bill because I had about 6 pages of data sessions all costed at $0.00 which seems like a bit of a waste of paper. lol.

All and all I think its a fantastic service, Im extremely impressed that its out there - now, if only I could get mine working again :2thumbs:

really??!!
do you mean if you purchase a handset direct from nokia without any specific network branding it doesn't have IM built in? what about VoIP? is that still included in the generic firmware?

Yah that would be great is someone had the nokia IM app installer program..I imagine this must be a rather old app as this app is barely used except for mobjab instances

We are also working on other features/transports. We are testing Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. Would request all our fellow MobJab Users to let us know if they would like to use all 3 or any specific one.

Facebook features would be using it to chat with your facebook chat buddies, Twitter features will be updating your tweets and receving your tweets, and MySpace would be chatting with your MySpace buddies.

let us know

I am running on an E71, username "panthar" at mobjab. I have reregistered with XMPP several times, and this is where I am stuck:

My contacts can see me come online and go offline.
My contacts do not appear on my phone - I get "Default: 0/0" for my list.
When a contact sends me an IM, I hear the notification sound, but do not actually see the message appear.

Should I get my account wiped and start from scratch? Do you see anything odd in the logs there?

I was only able to get this to work once on my e90. After signing off then signing on again, I haven't been able to load my buddy list. Gets an error.

when i log in via the web and to the services menu, i don't see ' XMPP'

all i see is:

User Directory
Conference Rooms
Yahoo! Transport
ICQ Transport
AIM Transport
MSN Transport

I'm trying to add gchat, otherwise the service works pretty well.

Wirelessly posted (Series 60: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaN95-3/20.2.011; Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413)

Oh sure, after years of not having a working wireless village app (yamigo sucked, doesn't count by any means), one comes up after I get an S60 handset that no longer natively supports WV! ;)

I just like to say thanks to MobJab for so dilligently combing these forums for questions. They have been more than helpful in my case.

Still waiting for that GTalk....

Hi

This was not an issue at your side. Jabber-XMPP-Gtalk External IM issues are resolved and will work fine. Users who have registered for Jabber-XMPP-Gtalk External IM are requested to register again using the My Account as we have made some changes at our side.

Hi

Yes. You are right. On mobjab.net which supports ver 1.3 only Gtalk/XMPP support only.

Other External IMs on mobjab.net IMPS gateway we are working on that. No time frames as of now for this.

Hi

Thanks for yor inputs. Unfortunately this will be on mobjab.mobi and mobjab.in. MobJab.in is a xmpp-imps proxy. In short any domain/service using XMPP Server2Server (ex:gmail.com or jabber.org or domain on google apps) can interact on mobjab.in server.

FaceBook for example uses XMPP for FaceBook chat. But they have not opened Server2Server communication on their XMPP server. So Mobjab.in cannot interact with Facebook.

Simillarly Twitter doesnt do XMPP at all. So cant get it working on Mobjab.in server.
