USB input on a car stereo to charge sat nav?

I am probably being very stupid here, but I was wondering if I could charge a sat nav, and/or any other device, from a car stereo usb socket? I just got an old car that needs a new stereo and has no lighter socket either. So I figured if this is possible it saves me on having to get a lighter fitted.
