Hi guys, I am learning poetry now and I need some serious help since I totally flopped my previous test in analyzing a poem. Anyone tell me what is the effect of having hyphenated words in a poem? I know they are supposed to bring out something, like a bond or whatever. Reinforce, stress the importance, put emphasis on, blah blah blah... WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PUTTING HYPHENATED WORDS IN POETRY AS A FIGURATIVE DEVICE please??Please quote a few instances whereby poets use hyphenated words.
