USA vs Italy referee discussion thread

jesus fuckin christ whiny american fans...first of all this type of shit happens in every world cup so stop pissing out of your ass...second US is not really that good of a team...they lost to Czech 3-0 and if Italy didn't score for them they probabaly would lose 1-0...so STFU and

That is the dumbest statement ever. Anyone that thinks the officiating in the US v Italy game was excellent deserves to be beated. The officiating was terrible. Now, I dont blame the official for the tie because both teams had their chances to finish and didnt capitalize but to say that officiating was excellent, good, fair or anything like that is just plain stupid. Any football/soccer fan should be appalled that officiating like that is happening in this WC. The officials are card happy and it is getting way out of hand.

The officiating today in the Brazil v. Australia game was good. The ref took the time to talk and warn players and kept the game in control without going John Wayne with the cards.

Man, I dont think anyone is really whining. All any country can ask for is that the officiating be fair and consistent, it wasnt at all in this game and the official strongly influenced the outcome. I am in no way saying the US would of won if the official didnt hand out the cards, I am just saying that game would of been fair on both sides and we could of seen what the teams were truely made of. Just because you are obviously baised against the US team, dont allow it to cloud your judgement of what good officiating is.

It is true, that I didn't see any US players yet in the Cup to fake an injury like many other nations. Flopping is one thing, but pretending to be hurt is just retarded.

Good game though, USA should've won the way the played. Beasley is still a little bitch who is too lazy to run, or else they probably would've won. Take him off the team, please.

why am i not suprised to see european fans saying the shit was justified. The fact remains that italy was givin the fucking game. Red card for elbow to the face, yes.

Red cards given to US players despite the fact they got ball on the tackle, then US players getting taken out from behind resulting in no calls...

Fuck you European mother fucking shitheads. The US outplayed Italy that entire game and the only reason Italy was able to tie was because of the refs giving it to them. The US was tough enough to hold them off, and almost take the lead, despite being down to 9 men because of shitty calls.

Fact: US > italy

Fact: European soccer fans are fucking morons if they cannot admit those cards were unjustified.

Fact: The officiating as a whole in this tournament has been beyond questionable. Way too many cards, period.

Biased is clearly clouding heads in this thread. Anyone that doesnt recognize that the US team clearly outplayed Italy in that game either didnt watch the match or is biased. Even the Italian media is praising the US in their play while talking about how terrible they made their national team look. Reports from my friends in Germany tell me that most people feel the same way.

Its funny that I have a few friends in Germany right now and they have had many European fans walk up to them and apologize to them for what happened in the Italy game. They told me that it seems like the US gained a lot of respect for their play in the game. So I dont really care what biased fuckers on this board have to say when I heard stuff like that from them. Time to move on and get a result against Ghana and hope the Italians do their job against the Czechs so we can play Brazil.

I have to applaud kensai for his frame by frame analysis. It seems that alot of people here are either American haters or American homers. Italy did not deserve to get even a point. The refs did not hand the game to Italy. The refs in general were inconsistent, but for both sides.

Are you not a Canadian?
Your location does say Toronto, but I guess you could be a transplanted Italian.
The point is, if you are a Canadian you have little to no room to put down the USMNT.
The Canadian team has not qualified in how many years now?
They will even use our domestic league to help build their national team program. I think that's lame as fuck.
The MLS should stay out of Canada, and Canada should try to build a domestic league of their own.

Very early in the Brazil v Australia the ref didnt card for a 'studs up' challenge by an Australian player. For consistancies sake he should have done, IMO

US's goal came by.. SHOCKER own goal cuz they can't score for their own goals for jack shit.

US players dove too, Donovan much?

Whoa there.

Italy was given the game? If anything they gave you the game because they scored your only goal.

Also, I must ask were your players thinking once the following scenario was set out before them:

It's 1-1, and italy is a man down. Possible courses of action:

1. Take advantage of this incredibly good situation and play the game in a reasonably conservative fashion because you CLEARLY had the UPPER GOD DAMN HAND and if your team had any talent the game was yours for sure.

2. Let's do dangerous plays like 2 footed tackles especially when we know the referee is pissed off as fuck after just having handed out a red card AND it was clear since the beginning of the match that he was a tight-ass "I'm not gonna take any BS." type of referee. Better yet, once we get a red card, let's continue playing very agressively (read: talentlessly) and get a SECOND yellow card!

Naturally the course of action to take is #2 isn't it you retard?

U.S. came out dirty and set the tone of the game early with all the fouls. De rossi's elbow was blatant and deserved a red card, the other sending offs were justified as well. The U.S. played dirty and got rewarded for their efforts. All in all a scrappy game which U.S. was lucky to come out of with a tie.

All red cards awarded in the game were justifiable. The worst being De Rossi's - the U.S. set the tone of the game early with multiple fouls early in the first half.
