it is, but it isn't at the same time. i completely understand the swiss position.

however, we shouldn't be encouraging people to deposit with banks that are in bed with the swiss and allow for easy tax evasion (cough cough UBS cough). plus, we could really use that tax money.
 
If the government doesn't like people taking THEIR MONEY and moving it off shore, then maybe the government should just make it illegal to own US Dollars outside of the United States.

I guess "innocent until proven guilty" means nothing to the government anymore. The burden of proving how much money you have and make is up to the government and thus up to them to determine how much in taxes you owe. People seem to be forgetting that simple fact.
 
Investigate for what? Under who's authority? I'm taking it you now are ok with the US going around and invading sovereign nations for our own interest? I bet you think that George Bush was right to invade Iraq and Afghanistan, right?
 
With the shape of the US economy(and political climate) there's little to no real leveraging power right now, so I don't see anything substantial happening.

IGNORE AGREEMENT SWITZERLAND RATIFIED IN 2009 THAT WOULD LET US TAX THOSE ACCOUNTS WITHOUT BREAKING SWISS BANKING LAWS IF ONLY THE U.S. SENATE WOULD RATIFY IT.
