Us N95

Has anyone heard any information regarding this? I have heard a rumor and I stress rumor, that there will be an N95 with US HSDPA speeds released around Q2 or Q3. The person I heard this from is pretty reliable, but I was curious to see what others have heard.

Also, do we think it will be compatible with Cingular's network and could the upcoming failure of the N75 to launch hurt our chances of seeing this.

There were strong and reliable rumors of a US version of the N80.....we all know what happened to that. So i'll believe it when I see a phone in the Cingular store. Not a day before...US carriers suck!

What n75 launch failure are you talking about. I dont think there has been a formal announcment from cingular regarding the n75. There were vague comments regarding a NA n95 available later next year but that all depends on carriers like cingular picking it up. They passed on the n80 so a formal launch of a handset like the n95 seems highly unlikely to me.

I am anticipating the failure of Cingular and Nokia in getting the N75 to market. I wasn't referring to a carrier picking it up, but hoping Nokia may just go to market with it. Otherwise, us Symbian fans in the US are going to be waiting a while for a 3G phone. It starting to look like the next/first HSDPA Nokia S60 will appear on T-Mobile in 2008.

If T-Mo starts launching HSDPA Nokia phones.....bye bye Cingular! I'll move over so fast to t-mobile regardless of what i have to pay to break my contract

You know I love Nokia, I have owned a ton of them, but this forgetting about the US is really getting annoying. I mean the frikkin' N-series phones should have all been released as quadband ( I mean they are marketed at high end multimedia computers) it's not like Nokia has a hard time making quadband phones. Nokia really needs to get their act together, If I dare say, at least Samsung and Lg can get the US 3g frequency's down.

There was my rant for the day!!!!

dude its not only nokia doing that...at least they have some nseries phones that have quad band!! look at sony there hi-end phones dont have quad band!!

"At the moment, Cingular's 3G network is 1900-only, but that will change in a few months as Cingular lights up 3G in more east-coast cities, some of which will be 850-only."

That pesky 850 is becoming more and more relevant!

If the cards can do it, phones arent far behind.

"The current cards (and the forthcoming first crop of HSDPA phones) can only do 1.8 Mbps, even though the network supports 3.6 Mbps. This Option card is the same one that recently made headlines for being the first to achieve the 3.6 Mbps rate in tests in France. Cingular is doing a live demo of the same card here at CES, proving that their network already supports the fast rate.

The Option card supports just about every technology and every frequency band you've ever heard of, which is why they call it the "Globe Trotter". It not only does WCDMA and HSDPA in the 850 and 1900 bands for the US, but also in the 2100 band for the rest of the world. It also supports quad-band EDGE and GPRS"
