Slavery, and the fact that the northern people were reading books such as uncle tom's cabin that depicted slavery in a horrible way

Emancipation proclamation

4) Who were the major people during the Civil war?
Lincoln, the confederate leader (google it)

5) how does this time period affect today (2008)
we are a more united nation, no slavery
