US carriers, foreign phones/devices

i currently have Sprint as my mobile/wireless carrier, but I'm really curious about those cool and more feature packed phones (like the Prada phone) and PDA/Windows Mobile devices in Europe and Asia (Korea, Japan, etc.) like the Samsung iPhone-ish phone and HTC's non-US devices.

can someone point me to some sites or forums where they discuss things like which foreign phones and devices work great with US carriers like Sprint, AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile??

TIA

Sprint and Verizon will only allow their own phones on their network. Sprint is very strict about it, but Verizon is showing signs of wavering if they have the phone in their database.

GSM carriers not to care as long as it is unlocked. And operates within the spectrum allocated to the carrier.

There are several reasons not to get a non US phone. The main reason is the lack of technical support. If you have an issue getting it on a network or otherwise, the carrier can't help as they aren't trained in the device. You also need to make sure the phone will operate on the networks here. Many Japanese phones are made to only work on their network.
