Hello everyone I am looking to join one of the two branches and have been doing a lot of research on the two. I am certain that i will enlist as Infantry & want the best training both physically and mentally. Now I know the general public sees the marines as being the most difficult but when you pry a little deeper it seems that they are widely considered as a public relations scape goat for the Army. It seems that the marines are recruiting certain individuals that are more interested in how they look in uniforms and how they are perceived by the public versus the Army who seem to be more focused on actually performing missions. I have heard that marines are more expendable take longer to train and cant be trusted with as much equipment is that true? Is that the sole purpose of marines to go on missions that we just have to send someone on but dont expect them to really do much or return? I am certainly leaning toward the Army now as i am a individual oriented in performing missions and less concerned about talking about it (the whole extra 2 weeks in boot camp to be considered the toughest doesnt mean much to me) i know there is a rivalry but like i said i am more about performing the mission & its obvious that the Army is in combat more so which branch should I go Army?

if you want to join for the government benefits or veteran status, definitely go with the marines. Marines see more combat, you'll feel pretty damn well satisfied with your tour of duty pretty quickly.
Interested in career, go Army. Like others said, you advance in position as well as rank.
However, officers in either branch have very good opportunities for advancement.
But, assuming you want to enlist, and that you also want to make a career out of it, I would say go army.
