What is the purpose of the red beret? what does it mean?

Also what kind of cords on your shoulder can you get? what color? and what do they mean? I know the blue one is for infantry. I saw a burgundyish blackish one what does that stand for? are there any others?

Does an MP get a special cord or badge or medal that they wear on their class A?

Do you wear your class A once you graduate BCT?
 
if you go to infantry osut you wear class a's when you turn blue i.e. the day you receive your blue cord and become an infantrymen. the blue infantry cord is the only mos specific cord that is authorized for wear. There are other cords such as the french fourragère that can also be worn on class a's. Im not an mp so dont know any special things they would get but i believe every mos has a special mos branch pin to wear on their collar of their class a's. and red berets are for personnel in airborne units.
