First of all, a born again christian is a person who has been given a covenant of grace. Second, passover is the actual three day festival or event that marks the time leading up to Christ's death and resurrection. Passover is absolutely about joy. It originated when the Jews put lambs blood over their door and the angel of death "passed over" their home. I would say those jews very very joyous. And they definitely "celebrate" during passover. As for some "rule" that is rooted in religious tradition, I would encourage you to challenge yourself to study for yourself, rather than take your church leaders word. And this is a biblically based suggestion. Gods word even says to compare preaching to the word of God to confirm correct teaching and to politely challenge those who teach you, if you feel you understand differently. So go. Have fun. But think of what Christ has saved you from, while your doing it. This will in deed honor him.
