Hi,

I have a back problem that has been going on several years. The discomfort is in a band (1 or 2 inches long) on either side of my spine around the T9 vertebrate about and 1 or 2 inches deep (really need to press on it to get to tender area). It is not intense pain but rather a pretty constant discomfort and a constant urge to crack or pop it by stretching or contorting my body. There are always little pops in that area of my back when I stretch.

I sit at a computer mainly for my job and think that maybe poor posuter is the underlying cause. I have gone to several chiropractors, a family doctor, and physical therapy. They agreed that I need to strengthen certain muscles in my back (I forget which exactly). However I have been doing exercises prescribed and swimming 2x week for more than a year and no improvement really.

Has anyone had similar problems? I have never found anyone who could say they have something similar.

thanks,

John

Have you been through formal physical therapy and are you treating with an orthopedic spine surgeon and/or neurosurgeon?

Hi SpineAZ,

I have been to a physical therapist and she recommended some exercises to do which do help somewhat when I do them very regularly. I have not seen an orthopedic spine surgeon and/or neurosurgeon. I would maybe like to see an orthopedic doctor but don't think I am to the point of back surgery yet. The PT said probably wouldn't recommend going to a specialist because I don't have anything but local symptoms (e.g. no nurabness in legs or anything like that).

Thanks for the reply.

John
