Firstly I'm fairly new to messing with mobile phones.
Secondly, with the help from a couple of you guys I have managed to upgrade my 2 daughters' A55s to C55s.

So.... now the bug is starting to take hold a little bit, I have just bought an SL45 for

Hello Norman!
Cause you already managed to get an A55 to C55, I don't see any problems with other stuff for SL45 for you. Everything here is documented and if you've got problems, here's the board...
To question 1: No, you can't use the same cable, the x55-series has got "Slim Lumberg" connectors, while x25 to x45 has a thicker connector. But I think (maybe) with your bought SL a sync station (with cable) should be delivered.
To question 2: What do you need to upgrade? Only thing is you have to activate Java (if it's not an SL45i) an put on version 56. For that there are programs and step-by-step guides. It should be done in half an hour.
Other stuff for "upgrades" is the patching stuff. There are hundreds of nice patches for SL, at least half of them are very useful and should in every case be applied. (Some SMS handling improvements, graphical menu, minutes beep 10 seconds before the minute, etc.)

Another questions? Just ask!

Could you tell me how to activate Java and put on version 56 on my SL45(now -hopefully- converted to SL45i) please. The version I have is 52. I tried to reinstall the files to the multimedia card, but they are all refused (using the siemens file transfer software).
Cheers,
Norman.

UPDATE....
Seems I have a bit of a problem with the phone..... I activated Java.... still on v52.
I have checked the MMC files using my computer and they are there though not Java.

Using the data transfer software from Siemens I am unable to move anything onto the MMC. It appears that there are no files within the folders when viewing through Siemens software, but I know that they are there when I look at them using a card reader.

So my phone is not recognising the stuff on the card.

Can anyone offer any suggestions. The phone has been well used..... it was sold to me on ebay, but I wonder if it is just worn out. I've tried cleaning the contacts.

Norman.
