Currently i am renting a 6100 and have about a month left on the contract. Would beel allow me to upgrade to a 9242 now or would I have to wait until the contract is up. Also i am paying $71 monthly right now including the $10 rental for the 6100. So if I went to a 9242 would it be as simple as adding $10 to my bill making it $81 monthly.

Since I had bell's professional installation last year when the put in my 6100, would I need them to come again for the 9242. I already have 2 cables coming from my SW44 since i was running a 5900 with my 6100. So i really wouldn't need them to come.

Thanks for the help

I am not sure there would be any advantage trying to Upgrade now but you can still ask.

If you plan on Renting then Express Vu WILL charge you for the installation, even though there are 2 lines there now, they NEVER ship out Rental receivers. You will have to pay for the installation, $75.

As for cost, I would think it is just a matter of adding $10 to your monthly charge.

If you tell them you are thinking of canceling they may make you an offer, I am not sure.

If you were renting both the 6100 and the 5900 t would come to the same rental cost

You can rent a 9242 now but you would still need to pay out the contract or pay an upgrade fee. If you are in a hurry, make an appointment now to do the receiver swap at the end of the contract. Another tactic is to call and cancel effective the end of the contract. EV will likely make you an offer to stay. If they ask why just say you are unhappy with the receivers. Then they might offer free rental on a 9242. ;)

My ready, is slightly different.

I agree that we know he is Renting the 6100, so therefore I guess he owns the 5900.

If I owned a 5900 and was getting a 9242 I would want to have the 5900 installed elsewhere, after all it did cost $299 if it was bought new.....

We will find out when he re-posts.

Do you guys think there is any chance of being able to buy the 9242 from bell getting the new customer promotion that is just $399 instead of the $599??

I would have to say a huge NO to that question.

Ias actually not aware of a $399 promo, might have to see about that in the wife's name at the other end ofthe house. On a 1 year term though you would have to pay $99 for installation, unless you can pick one up at a Retailers and still get the Promo...Hmmmm

No I will just wait another few weeks,, then sell my 2 x 6100's, my 3200 and buy a 9242, that should raise $250 I think.

I am currently paying $71 monthly. So If i stop renting all together and buy a 9242 will I be paying $61 or will I have to be in some other package that costs more. I get 5 themes, digital standard, and the HD channels.

Thank you ex agent. i have already bought and hooked up my 9242 now. it is an amazing machine.

I heard that you can hook 2 SD TV's on that receiver. Is that really the case?

By the look of the manual you could hook up as many as you want. In the manual they show using a 4 output splitter and running 4 sd tvs. You would have to watch the same thing on all 4 tvs though.

The RF output carries BOTH Tuners contents, so feeding it into a coax distribution network inside the house will send 2 channels around, not just 1 as with every other receiver before it.

If I have a 9242 receiver can I use it for the kid's room (SD TV) + my room (SD TV) and each room watching a different show?

You can feed say Tuner #1 out on channel 65 and Tuner #2 on 69, so eitehr is then viewable on BOTH TV's.

It is also useful for monitoring the content being watched on the remote TV.

Thanks for your response... 9242 wasn't sold when I worked there so I didn't know.

I was planning to buy a 5900 for the kid's room, and I already have one in my room. Guess I just buy a 9242 instead, sell the 5900 and when my room's TV break (TV is 10 years old now) I could buy a HD one whithout having to change the receiver
