I have a Iphone 3gs, jailbroken with spirit, for firmware version 3.1.3 (7E18).
My modem firmware is 5.12.01
My social is.... haha, just kidding.
I tried doing a little research, and found a multitude of confusing answers. What I want to do, is upgrade my phone to the latest "stable" firmware, which is either 4.1 or 4.2, Idk which. I don't care either, I'd like to at least get to 4.0 so I can start getting some apps that only work with 4.0 or higher.
As you can imagine, I'd like to save my apps, or at least most of them. I'm not really a freak about themes and such, I could go without that. But there are some things that I'd really rather keep (a certain SMS app that lets me reply in lock mode, etc).
I'm on a Windows computer.
Is there any specific guide or help you could give me that would let me upgrade my firmware with as little lost as possible... or would I have to just unjailbreak my phone, upgrade, and re-jailbreak and get all those awesome apps again?
At this point, i'm so confused on every possible option, that I don't even know if Cydia works with 4.0 or later!
Any information, exact guides, or whatnot would be very much appreciated. I'd like to do it myself... and NOT screw it up because I didn't have a clue what I was doing.
