Upgrading Firmware on Pearl

Hi there I just recently purchased my first bb and this is my first post!

just had a few questions...
v4.2.1.148 (Multilanguage) - Applications: 4.2.1.94; Platform: 2.3.0.77

is the latest firmware update... is there any real good reasons why i should update my pearl to it? I cant really find any info on what this update will help with.

My current version is:
Platform: 2.2.0.32 (stock)

will this fix the problem when I go to call log it shows (-2) Call log. I have tried everything and for some weird reason it never will go away. Any others know what the benefit will be?

Wait a few days, until the 13th and then get the OS mentioned here http://blackberryforums.rabroad.com/40097-new_tmobile_software_4_2_1_a.html

The fixes for any issues you are having are listed in post 1. Keep in mind when you install this you will have to delete the vendor.xml file.

Here are more updated OS releases http://blackberryforums.rabroad.com/34693-blackberry_8100_pearl_os_software_links.html

But this is for a Rogers pearl.. will it work the same way or is this going to be a general update for all of the pearls and just hosted with Tmobile?

When you install it to your PC. Before you connect your BB to it search your PC for the file VENDOR.XML and delete it. It will then install to you device.

Enjoy!

edit: fixed the typo

so the vendor.xml file once removed wont really matter which provider im on it will just correct it to the latest firmware? or should i stick with that 2nd link for the firmware by carrier and choose rogers latest and greatest which is what i posted at the top?

Can anyone explain why the latest upgrad that tmobile is listing for my 8100 upgrade is 4.2.0.64?? I went to http://t-mobile.com/bbupgrade/ and selected the 8100 and input my phone #. The latest upgrades listed are:
