Upgrade Or Not?

Hey everyone,

I've had like mixed opinions here and I was wondering what your thoughts are. I was talking to some people at Ducati, as well as this guy Paul who used to be head of brand sales for Ducati. I have a Hayden 848 which is a limited bike. Some say I should buy some mods for it, others say leave it the way it is and keep it all original,

The mods I would get wouldn't be serious.. they would be a termi exhaust, some CF pieces, smoked windscreen, rizoma tanks, that's really it.

Any ideas what you guys think I should do? I'll probably keep this bike for a long time, but it's not the bike I ride most often.

IMHO if I were to buy another limited run bike, I would like it to be as stock as possible. I say that because later down the road, if/when you sell it, you might lower your pool of buyers with after market additions. For example, I have been looking for the 2002 748s titanium color for a few years. Most have had stuff done to them that I didn't like (red windscreens, off brand pipe, crappy clutch) and therefore passed. I finally settled on one that the only thing done to it was an aftermarket pipe...if it were a Termi I'd be happy, but now I'm in the market for one which oh by the way, you'd think 2002 isn't an old bike but Termi doesn't make pipes for that bike anymore. So that's why I say keep it stock-ish or as close as possible so a potential buyer can put it back...or at least keep all your parts and don't do anything that can't be reversed.
 
termis will never hert a ducs pricing, Mileage will! You will lose more value due to miles than mods (unless you do some horrific sh*t)

IMO

Run a set of termis and don't ride it much if you want the highest value

Or ride the MFO and enjoy it :-)
 
Thanks for the advice guys. You all offered great advice. Honestly, one mod I REALLY want is the smoked windscreen. I think if I at least did that, shouldn't be too much of a dealbreaker.
 
If you keep all the stock pieces clean and original, when you go to sell it (if and when that is), just put the stock pieces back on. Poof, magic. No one's the wiser. Or just sell it as is and let the take off parts go with it. I've never seen the guy who doesn't like to have options
 
The only real differential between a regular 848 and the Hayden edition is the paint. Don't mess with the paint but give r' on whatever isn't unique in paint.
 
Yeah so I've decided that I'm just going to change the windscreen and keep it stock. Saves me money, time, headach. I have a speed triple I can do stuff to
