So this morning I hobbled into PT like a 90 year old woman. The therapist wanted me to see the doctor instead of doing my workout since I have been in such awful pain. I was crying as I tried to do my stuff. I had never met this Dr. before, but he is the doctor assigned to me at the PT place. He gave me some better pain meRAB today, and thinks I need to just have surgery. He is going to contact my surgeon. He also said "I looked over your MRI and you've got several obvious issues going on." That was refreshing to hear after what the last neuro surgeon said to me about my scans looking normal to him. To be honest, I was surprised by all that happened today because the PT place lives by their motto that they keep people out of surgery. So he had me cancel my other PT appointment for the week. I will keep you all posted but it looks like I may be having surgery sooner than I thought. My main reason for this post was because of what happened at my second opinion last week. I still don't get why that neuro surgeon said there was nothing wrong with me.

hi and good morning....

Yea, from what I did read about cyst, that was 1 of the cyst and there was a few more named cyst. On 1 site it did say something about sciatic issues with the cyst. Seems it would surely contribute to your back issues, then again, it could just be a benign growth.....ask your doctor about it. Sometimes you have to PRY info from doctorsssssss......

I was taking percocet after my surgery and it helped my surgical pain too.I always got headaches when i took vicoden before my surgery so, I had my pain doc change my pain med. Maybe it was that vicoden causing your headaches as well.....lets hope so, so you can start feeling better.

If surgery is scheduled 5-6 weeks out, oh my, be glad as it will give you plenty of time to get ready. I kinda wished I wouldve been better prepared. I had my surgery rather quick after we decided we would go through with it. This will give you time to think things out too. Such as, meals when you are able to start cooking again. Get things in order to where you can easily reach. And of course, your baby girl. You are young so you have that going for you as far as recovery goes. The younger you are, the easier the recovery is in most cases. I am 47 and its been ....since dec. 16 and I am still RECOVERING. I feel I am doing great but, I am still limited greatly as to what I can do. Well, let us know what is happening so we can help you through it.....good luckk!!!!!

Good luck Meggs............I wish you well! maybe some relief is near? From what I read about it on the web, you could be having an issue with the degenerative cyst in lurabar area.

Hi-

Sorry both of your recoveries are taking so long. I know it will take a long time. My grandma had a one level fusion of L5 and S1 9 years ago and she was on pain meRAB for 8 months post op. It has been mentioned to me that my headaches could be from the vicodin. If that is the case than hopefully I will feel better in that aspect very soon!
I heard back from the PA. I have an appointment for Thursday. I am nervous but ready to move forward. Also, I asked her about that cyst and according to her it is nothing. It is a boney build up around the fracture I have in my L5 pars. Apparently my body tried to heal the fracture itself but instead made a boney build up! She said that goes hand in hand with Spondy so it is nothing to be concerned about. I would imagine it is contributing to my pain, so maybe the surgeon can shave away some of it when he does my fusion.

I've been reading all you posts Megss and am relieved that hopefully you are finally going to get your surgery and God willing relief to all your pain that you've been in for way too long and get on with your life. I'll pray that all goes well. Good Luck Megss!

Thank you both for your responses! I am still waiting for the surgeon's PA to call me back, but Lynn, I was also going to ask her about that cyst. On all the searches I did, all I could really find was a synovial cyst, and that sounRAB like maybe what it could be. But then again, maybe not because no one has ever mentioned it to me before in my appointments. Mommev, how are you recovering? I hope you are doing well!
I am getting to the point where I cannot walk very well, all I can do is baby steps. My new pain meRAB (percocet) are helping more than the vicodin was, but I am still hurting really badly. I also wake up with a severe headache every single morning, and after an hour or two it is gone. I have no idea what that is about.
I will keep you both posted, but even if they were to schedule surgery today it will be another 5-6 weeks before it happens. (I have been told before by the PA that it takes that long to schedule it).

awww Meggs......maybe it will finally be over as far as waiting for a surgery date. And maybe your headaches will be gone now too! It was good you asked the PA about that cyst. Now you can relieve your mind on that. Just try to relax......if you get a surgery date, let us know and we all can brainstorm and give you good hints and advice as far as preparing. I wish I would have been better prepared! AND just be prepared for a long recovery ugh LOL ill be so happy when i regain full strength. My back feels soooooo much better but my body will not cooperate with me. I am rushing things....and have to slow down!! Take care and take it easy till you have surgery!

Hi Megss,
It looks like you will finally be moving forward with some needed treatment. If this new doctor determines that you are ready for that fusion I hope it is soon so you can get some relief. Keep us posted as soon as you find out anything.

My surgeon also said something about two cysts in my back. I'll be asking him about them on Feb. 27th. My Laminectomy (hope that is all I need) is March 5th.

Prayers for you and Lynn,
Darby

Wow, that is crazy that it takes that long to schedule the surgery. With everything you've been through, yours should be scheduled as soon as possible. To answer your question about my recovery, it is going slow, in quite a bit of pain yet at 2 months, no fusing, but I do start PT this week. Hoping that helps. Having my migraines and headaches too with this, which has been a bummer. Keep me posted! Thinking of you!

I am so glad you are going to get some real help finally!! Hang in there and post again soon. Sandra
