update ixtreme for samsung xbox 360??

when i bought my xbox 360. i could already play burned games..but now theres new games and a friend of mine who bought the xbox at the same place told me that he had to buy a dvd to put it in the xbox before playing any games. like a activation iso or something.
but i dont want to buy it cause its too expensive. activation iso didnt work.the xbox couldnt read it.

So wat do i have to do? update ixtreme? i dont know how it works but wth.
