Upcoming HTC Glacier & HTC Tablet

Ok, so we've all heard about the upcoming HTC Glacier and the beast of a phone it might be.. and have some good news. Today I was informed by a TMobile insider source of mine that the HTC Glacier will indeed be coming to T-Mobile!! He also said that it will be an all touch phone and will pack a dual core processor. (didn't specify speed though) He also confirmed to me that it will be HSPA+ enabled like the G2 and the MyTouch HD. He didn't tell me when it can be expected though, but it does give us something to hold out for

We also got to talking about the Galaxy Tab, and I told him I'd be waiting out for the HTC tablet rumored to be running Android 3.0 in which he was surprised I knew about and told me T-mobile will also carry that as well! These are all just rumors at this point and unconfirmed but like I said, he's an insider source of mine and told me about the My touch HD before it even hit the net as a rumor so he's someone I trust.

it's been confirmed many times that dual core chips from qualcomm won't be out till 2011. so it's a 3 month wait at the least. unless they're using a different chip. but htc uses qualcomm.

I've heard the rumors of the Glacier and that is what I'm holding out for.
HTC Glacier – Although not much is known about this phone, the Glacier does sound quite ‘shiny.’ Rumored specs suggest that the Glacier would have at least a 1.5GHz processor, due to a leaked T-Mobile internal benchmarking document showing the device performing three-times fast than the 1Ghz HTC Evo 4G.
Hopefully it won't have the auto restore the G2 has, don't know if I could run a stock phone. My N1 is good for another three months, hopefully will be 4" plus.

yea like I said, he didn't give me a timeframe of when it will be released, but he did confirm TMO will carry it. But I will be holding off for that He also mentioned something about an 8MP Motorola phone coming to TMO but we went off into the tablet convo where he mentioned TMO carrying the HTC Tablet, and never got back to the Motorola phone.

i'm excited for all this! only kinda downside is that the g2 seems to be getting the short end.. especially after being called the g2. it's got some high expectations being the g1 successor...

G2 will sell well, but at the pace the smartphone market is going it'll quickly go out. Best thing of the G2 is the GPU it has, but the new mytouch already has a better chipset. (MSM 8255 both 2nd gen SnapDragon processors)

Played with a G2 today and dam does it have excellent build quality. It's dam sexy

yeahh it took a few weeks, but i'm really warming up to the g2. i'm really liking the design. too bad its specs are really lacking.. especially when all this new stuff gets pushed out.

hopefully we see a g3 next year or so that can keep up with the latest and greatest. and maybe even a n2 this year if we're lucky

you think the g2 specs are lacking? at the moment, it's the fastest htc phone and is more than sufficient enough for the android OS. it's not like the android market has apps that require a decent gpu anyways. we're all getting a little greedy IMO. unfortunately, there's still not too many great games that have great graphics to require any more than what is already being offered. the only way we benefit from this is a more responsive virtual keyboard :/ but about the glacier, i hope it's not too big. i honestly just don't like the look of their 4.3 inch screens. a 4 inch would be nice. i'd be fine with the 3.7 if it was just a bit wider...making it maybe a 3.8. and will it have sense? i hope so!

ehh lacking probably wasn't the best way to word it. i understand that it's a very nice device, but i just feel like the jump from a snapdragon wasn't substantial enough. who knows what's gonna happen when gingerbread comes out--the rumored minimum specs are pretty high--so it'd be a shame to have such a nice device wasted.

as for the glacier talk, i've grown a lot fonder of 4.3" screens since i got my hd2. i do agree that it is a bit much at times.. 4" really is the sweet spot. i have some trouble typing even on my hd2, so i'm afraid that 3.7" might be too small (but i haven't actually tried). but this could just be a problem with the keyboard, as you said.

the "jump" is more than just performance. it's also battery life. the g2 uses very little power when it's on standby and less when actually being used than the 1 ghz snapdragon that's out now. i know it has a better gpu and has a better quadrant score but don't know how the linpack is. i've never had issues with the spacing of the virtual keyboard on the 3.7 inch screens. just problems with responsiveness. they never keep up. the only ones to do so are the galaxy s phones and the iphone(which is gay). i think if htc made a 4 inch screen, it would be amazing.
