Up 24 hours straight

I've never been up 24+ hours, but there have been a fair share of nights where I've gotten only 2-3 hours of sleep. Usually I try and get between 5-6 hours of sleep during the week and catch up (somewhat) on sleep on the weekends. But I have yet to pull a full on all-nighter.

:thud:

In the Spring I usually have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. I live in a state where in Spring & Summer has long daylight hours, and Fall & Winter shorter hours daylight LONGER darker days. Have SAD-Seasonal Affect Disorder, and Bipolar Dispolar.

During my first year of college, at the end of Spring semester, with 2 weeks left and a lot of papers, projects, & exams. That meant lots of school work, with limited time socializing! I got so full of energy and worked day and night typing on my electric typewriter(that was in 1976 pre PCs and pre lap tops), finishing my projects, and study for exams. I was awake with no sleeping/or naps for two weeks. At the end of Spring semester, and all my work was handed in, & finally took last exam taken, I began to slow down and became sleepy. Move slower. Was ready to sleep. Wanted to sleep for a week. I did sleep for 10-12 hours the first day. Each day for about a month took naps.

:lmao: Whoops, that did not come out right.

That week from Monday to the following Tuesday (about a week), I've been averaging at least three to five hours because of the paper. Coffee and Monster have this uncanny ability to perk me up.

But in general, I try to get at least 6 hours. Weekends, I just don't want to move from the bed unless if it's for something happening that weekend.

Yeah, that was bad. Someone I loved had died and it was all just a big mess. As a matter of fact, that was exactly 4 years ago today.

I don't usually sleep more than 6 hours on week nights. But 3? How do you function?

 Yeah, it is awful.

Then again, prior to the 33+ hours wake up, I've been sleeping on average of three hours a night.

But five hours all together? Yup, you beat me.

I was up for 25 hours straight once and it was awful

And then went like 3-4 days (I honestly don't remember) with about 5 hours of sleep all together. Not good.

There have been a couple times I stayed up for more than 24 hours, usually when I have really long papers. Other times, when I was a lot younger and I was at sleepovers, me and my friends would stay up all night then as well.

Yep, I used to do the all night thing fairly regularly, maybe once a month or so. I think the longest I've stayed up was a little over 48 hours when I was traveling to Europe one time because I got there after about 12 hours of traveling at around 6:00am and just stayed up the whole day until about 10:00 that night so it was a really, really long day. Now that I'm out of college, I don't find myself needing to stay up all night so I usually won't unless there's something really good on TV or I'm reading a very good book. Actually, I think reading good books has kept me up later than almost anything else.

I'm actually surprised that I survived driving to and from school that usually takes about 30 minutes. :thud:

I once did 60ish hours.

I'm an every-other-night sleeper sometimes, and I have incredibly fast driving reflexes when I hit that tired buzz.

Okay, not really 24 hours but 33 hours straight. Something similar happened in 2007 where I stayed up for more than 24 hours straight. Both reasons are similar since it was schoolwork and I was pressed for time to finishing an assignment.

This time, it's for a 60 page minimum first draft of my Act II screenplay. I managed to finish it three hours before my class.

So, like the last time, crazy is as crazy does, I had no choice but to drive to school because catching the bus would be too late. Although unlike the first time around, the university is much farther (approx. 30 minutes).

Don't worry, the car and I are fine. And everyone else who was on the road that day.

Although someone from where I frequent found out about it and asked this about me...

My response:

So, whose had the 24+ hour all nighters before?
