UnzBin - A tiny usenet client

Looks good !

Speed's not steady enough though and it's MB/s-kB/s, not Mb/s-kb/s.
The size column uses MB, weird ...

And not being able to choose the installation directory ?
Come on.

But it's easy to use, light, overall I like it

It downloads pars even if you don't need them ??

Couldn't repair something that SABnzbd repaired fine :(

They released 2.3.5 today, I've tried it out and works amazingly fast.

Release Notes:
+ Sortable downloads (download priority)
+ Sortable parts
+ Individual parts can now be paused/resumed/deleted (context menu)
+ Improved decoding speed
+ Improved validation/repair & unpack
+ Many layout changes
+ Display bugs fixed (hope we've nailed them all)
+ Minor bug fixes

Wow, they've addressed most of my issues. This app is getting there.

I gave it ago a week ago and the minimalist thing didn't work out for me. I I had trouble adding a connection properly. If it had a few more features, that would be great.

version 2.2 released a bit ago.
progressing steadily.

speeds still fluctuate, but nowhere near as badly.

edit -- just noticed the speed display in the titlebar. why not within the main window ?

needs nzb drag and drop ! !

can we have an option for smaller icons ?

I'm using AstraWeb and everything works fine for me, what error do you get?

I like this app a lot! It's easy and clean, not cluttered like alt.binz. I have no problems with it being single server, if you have a good isp then 1 should be enough.

All together this is looking very promising, you don't need to run a webserver like sabnzbd and its very fast.

Update: They released version 1.6

+ Fixed AstraWeb issues
+ Fixed broken SSL
+ Added multi-server support (by popular request)
+ Added option to disable update checker
+ Complete overhaul of the settings panel
+ Minor GUI Tweaks

I've been using it for a couple weeks and its fine. Just a question. Anyone know if you can clean up the folder naming. I keep getting folders like this, "354-Book of Eli 720p wiki"

It bugs me that the numbers are in front of all the release name. Not a deal breaker but hopefully they fix it.

Stil looking for a newsreader that sips cpu cycles like utorrent. I guess it must be the decoding process they have to use. Even with a 3.2 ghz dual core my cpu is always around 25-30% when downloading.

What's confusing you here?

NZB files are loaded from the "%appdata%/Unzbin" folder. It must have .import as it's extension.

I don't think they need to add anything else regarding import.
That doesn't sound to handy. I want to be able to drop a normal nzb in a folder I specify just like all the other apps do.

I'm not a Usenet expert at all, but I gave this a test drive yesterday on the Just4Today server with a NZB from here. Speeds would stay at zero, then peak to ~350kB/s for a second, then drop to zero again for a few seconds, then peak again, and so on...

I'll see if 1.6 solves this.

Still the same. :dabs:

You should post these suggestions in the official UnzBin forum if you haven't already. ;)
