Until Agendus 8.0 is ready . . .

Just a small heads up for a little bug I found in Agendus 7.06:

If you change a "Meeting" to a "To Do" and WHILE STILL in that operation also change the category of that to do along with the icon, Agendus 7.06 will freeze.

If you encounter the above "freeze," you'll have to reset wit stylus but oddly enough the CHANGES are reflected on power-up.

The solution is: Change it to a To Do, and "set" it or finalize it. Then go back in and change the category (I have mine set with different hi-liter colors for each category, which is settable in top right corner) and also the icon if you wish. No problems then.

This may or may not have been addressed in 8.0 - just found it last night. Otherwise 7.06 is just marvelous and I'm sure 8.0 will have advantages too. I'ts a FANTASTIC program and I couldn't imagine it getting much better, but apparently 8.0 does indeed offer things worth the upgrade from what I'm reading.

Photos in contacts - finally. Plus a LOT of other stuff too . . . YOU SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED for an upgrade, Dropshort - you just got last version. I notice on my upgrade page for 7.06, they now want ANOTHER $9.95 to upgrade which is scandalous.

Are they charging you too? This quick? Wow, that's really awful. You might email "Lee" at [email protected] (great guy) and complain about that - he helped me out a few months back.

Iambic are the "cheapest" company I've ever seen with respect to upgrades - no other software company charges you an upgrade (if at all) for AT LEAST 12 months -- Tealpoint is 2 years unless it's a complete re-write like TealPaint or TealDoc.

I also question whether or not I want a ONE FULL MEG app for keeping appointments; I imagine the "Professional" model (which I think you have) which also requires Iambic Mail will come in at around 1.7MB total -- man that's huge, even for a T3. 1-2MB for a calendar and some icons . . . I don't know. The 650k 7.06 I have seems to do all I need, and really resent the $9.95 upcharge!

Those pennies in the settee worked hard for their money . . . . I'd squeeze 'em til Lincoln hollars!!

As I said in my e-mail call it T3 withdrawal but I did it, but have sent an e-mail to iambic to state my 'displeasure'.

FYI, a little bit of what I said:

"I understand that having already paid out for the upgrade that there is little that can be done in my case, but please consider changing this policy for future users. I know from the forum I subscribe to that the arrival of the beta version of 8 was received with great enthusiasm, and I would hate for others to end up in the same position as I am; paying for an upgrade before thinking."

Don't say I don't think of you guys!

i just posted this on palmone but ill reiterate here..
'Just looking at the agendus 8.0 blurb...
Can anyone tell me why if someone bought 7.06 after april 1st (or 11th I forget) then they get the upgrade free? I have been messing around with 7.06 for a while, posted several bugs (as many others have), yet the 'early adopters' of this software (which displayed many of the features of beta softaware even up to the release of 8.0,,which is probably still beta in some sense) have to pay $10 to upgrade....'

This kinda rides on PTL's point. IMHO, Agendus 7 could, quite rightly, be considered as a beta version of 8.0 (whicj is a beta itself). UIf you are unlucky and get the upgrade early, you may be $20 in the hole (on top of $30 for the initial purchase) for 1.5 development cycles of this program....enough already! Dont get me wrong, its a great app, but ~$50 for a souped up datebook?????

RIGHT!! RIGHT!! RIGHT!!

SOS - I hadn't even THOUGHT of that . . . . you change a meeting to a to do in 7.06, and also change category and/or icon -- FREEZE UP and soft reset time. Also bugs out with WordComplete. IT WAS A BETA FOR 8!! Damn it, that didn't even OCCUR to me. . . . Man, now I'm really p*****.

Sir Cooke: I think it's time to give Datebk 5 another audition . . . perhaps along with "K's datebook, FREEWARE PALM free . . . I love icons in the month view, but a Meg and $50 (SOS's math is correct . . . )

Dropshort and I shall storm in to those pinheads, Union Jack waving . . . . maybe bring IIICRuled for Air Support . . . . .

If Datebok 5's icons can be altered in Icon Mgr (they can), and I can import my icons (I can), AND YOU CAN HILITE tasks by category (important) . . . . I'm there. Enough of this!!!!

Seriously - I think a group letter is in order -- polite but firm. This is just not right.
