Unstable RPM on mazda 626?

My year 2000 mazda 626 4 cylinder vehicle drops RPM for a few seconds when the car is in idle and also when the air conditioning, radio and other accesories are turned on and being used. Then all of a sudden the RPM increases rapidly and then after falls back down repeadetely. ANy suggestions for a fix or why might this happen? THANK YOU.
 
When the A/C is on, it uses power from the engine causing the RPM to drop suddenly when it's turned on. It revs up because it doesn't want to stall and then it just goes back to normal idle. The A/C uses about 5 hp from the engine.
 
The other person hit the nail on the head, but if the AC is clicking on and off repeatedly like that, it might be low on frion. If it's not filled, it could burn up the compressor.
