Harvey Keitel was such a creep in Bad Lieutenant, at least during the first half. I may not have finished the movie but I don't remember right now.

I remember when I was younger I rented the first NC-17 film, Henry And June, because in my young mind I assumed it was going to be some mind blowing awesome stuff. It wasn't. It would be R all the way today.

The first NC-17 flick that I watched and liked was Bad Lieutenant with Harvey Keitel.

just in here to say i love reqiuem for a dream.. cant spell it but thats bc im to busy watching it lol.. no its not i just cant spell :)

one of my fave actresses is Jennifer Connelly, been a fan since yay high, ever since Jim Hensons Labyrinth.. it was quite a suprise to see her in this kinda role and she has gotten better ever since..

Also Jarrod Leto = complet dork/hot/cute - ness.

the movie had a great storyline and i love how none of them got a happy ever after.. alhtough it did break my heart when Marion asked him to come home and he couldnt.

And yet, something like "American Pie" or "The Girl Next Door" that has actual nudity and other extreme things can EASILY get an R-Rating.

Why?

Politics.

"AP" and "TGNS" are mainstream movies intended for a mainstream, teen-to-20something audience and studios know that an R-Rating sends the "right" message that it may have raunchy sex jokes and nudity... But it's all in "good clean fun" since none of it should be taken seriously and actually falls within this countries twisted "family values" that we love to tout (yet we invade a foreign country for dubious reasons and our young men and women are dying for essentially nothing each and every day).

It's ridiculous, insulting and just another indicator of how hypocritical the system is in that if you have the money, you can buy whatever rating you want.

Yeah :)

My parents never noticed ratings, so I've been watching R rated material since I as far as I can remember as a toddler.

have you gusy seen Eurotrip? I went to see it in theatres and then I rented it because it was "unrated" but the DVD doesn't have much then the movie in theatres. Disapointing...

Seems like "Grindhouse" will be cutting out some gore to avoid the NC-17 rating. Movie gore has been getting pretty intense as of late.

Sex has taken a back seat to blood.

wait a minute they actually are going to give this film an NC-17 because of a clothed make-out sex scene..that's stupid..they are clothed!!

Young Adam that was a sexy movie with Ewan

I never really had a problem with Rated R movies and my parents when I was younger. They just sat me down and told me what was real and what wasnt, and that was it. I watched Rated R movies since I was about 9 now.
