Unpopular opinion, anime

I would like to make note that there is a topic for this thread/discussion. If you post, please make it relating to that topic-- not a comment about behavior that is not happening. It's just clutter, and turns people off topic-- as it has done here. Please keep it to topic.

As for the topic at hand, I think we went through a phase where we had a lot of similar shows airing on TV that had similar styles: Trading card monster game themed shows. I've not seen it as much lately, but I'd suppose seeing numerous shows with this similar theme and style would lead to the opinion thats all we see.

While Im not a huge fan of anime, I've found Lupin III and Shin Chan to be oddly enjoyable. I don't know if it was the look of it, or what-- but it was something I'd watch if it were on. Big O reminded me of Batman, but beyond that, I don't watch a whole lot of it.

What I have found to be funny-- was parodies of anime's stereotypical big eyes-- big hair look. I also enjoyed the episode of South Park where it slipped back and forth between graphic anime and SP style. It was just different. I will say though, the same big hair/big eyes look can get old.

QFT. Furthermore, we already have The Anime Forum here at TZ--created solely for the purpose of anime discussion. It also happens to be one of the top three most active and popular forums here at TZ.

Whether you have an "unpopular opinion" on anime or not, it should still be discussed in The Anime Forum.

And to support what Delia said, "flaming" is really unnecessary for topics like this. If someone has a differing opinion--whether it's an unpopular opinion or not--there's no need to fault someone for what they personally think or feel on a subject as long as they voice their opinion in a reasonable, civil manner as HarlinSchmoo did here.

Many of my long-time friends and TZ staffers here know I have my own unpopular opinions about anime regarding dubs in particular. But at heart, I'm an animation fan and I'm willing to give most anything cartoony a chance. And like most things on TV: if I don't like something, I know I can always change the channel.

Just like in Japan, which further proves that animes that get those, are kids shows, DEAL WITH IT. You think with Naruto success we would see Naruto toys at Places like Burger King or McDonalds. Last Anime I saw get a kids meal toy in America was Pokemon, but that also somehow ties in with the card game more than the anime or the video games. Stuff like that proves to me that it more of a niche market than mainstream one. Getting your own section in stores like Best Buy, FYE, Suncoast (man I miss that store) and other video stores, does not count.

I consider myself to be a fan of anime, though most of the shows I do enjoy art style are different from the so-called "Cookie cutter style" like One Piece for example. Sure it follows the standard Shonen Jump plot, but it is enjoyable as the art does remind me of such classic cartoons of Tex Avery, Tom and Jerry, Fleischer Bros, Looney Tunes and all the other Golden Age stuff.
