unlocked phones??

hey everyone!
alrighty, i've been looking into getting an unlocked phone off of ebay the past couple weeks. i just had a few questions if anyone can help me out! (just for the record i have a Nokia 3220, and i'm looking into getting the Nokia 6111)
ok-how do i know for sure my phonei have now is unlocked? i have a sim card behind my battery, so that automatically means it'll fit into the other phone and work fine? Sorry if thats a dumb question, im just paranoid i'll get a phone and it wont work for some reason!
Also, if the phone is not yet available in the USA, will i have any trouble with my service provider? (i have tmobile, and probably plan on staying w/ them)


i think thats all.....sorry again if my questionms are a little dumb...lol just want 2 make sure everything will work when i get it!

All it is, is take the sim card from the 3220, throw it in the new phone and you'll be ready to go, you'll need to download GPRS and MMS settings for the phone once you do that, just post back up here when you're that far and i'll sort you out.
 
If the 6111 doesn't show any sign of logos other than that of Nokia, it's a good bet that it's unlocked. And besides, this is an overseas phone. More than likely it's going to be unlocked because it wasn't picked up by a carrier...so this phone won't officially be available in the US.
