Unlimited talk for $30/month? What's the catch?

OK, I'm missing something here. No contract and I pay $30/month for unlimited voice. Why should I get similar service from a PagePlus (where I'm currently on the paygo plan) or any other prepaid company for $45 if I don't need text or data? Is the coverage poor?

The realistic negatives are:

-smaller coverage area than the larger providers.
-no grace period and a $10 late fee on top of getting your phone cut off if late.
-a $3 or $2 fee to pay your bill unless you pay online.
-no basic features like call waiting or caller ID unless you pay $5 more.
-limited to cricket's phones if you are in an AWS market.

Other than those things it's a great plan.

Hi Relztrah,

My name is Marty and I work on behalf of Cricket Wireless. In response to your post, I wanted to clarify a few things about our $30 plan that were mentioned in this thread.

- In terms of coverage, we expanded our coverage map in March of 2010 to now include all 50 states and 90% of the US, so you can use your Cricket phone when travelling in many more places than previously. You can see our new map here: http://www.mycricket.com/coverage/maps/wireless_v1
- Additionally, our $30 plan does include Caller ID, voicemail, call waiting and three-way calling all within the plan and not for an added cost.

I hope this info helps, but please let me know if I can answer anything else for you!

ya in nashville they said that you get voicemail and caller id but nothing else, but when i called in to cs reps (of course they had no idea they were just bs'ing the whole time) they said that you only get voicemail and caller id is add on, while everyone else was saying something else... i just am going to stay with the $40 month plan and i'm very happy with it
