Unlimited messaging/data?

They have unlimited messaging but not unlimited data.

Unlimited messaging is $20 per month on prepaid which is deducted from the available balance per month.

My blackberry was 30.00 per month for unlimited browsing + 20.00 per month for unlimited texting + 100 dollars per month for unlimited talking. I switched to straight talk (same as verizon) and get all of the above + free information calls for 45.00 per month. Pretty big savings. I have had straight talk service for several months and I love it. I was a verison customer 10+ years because I live in a rural area and they were the only provider that worked in my area.

Verizon Wireless and straight talk are NOT the same carriers and are unrelated.

They both use CDMA, which means the network will be very similar but the call quality will not be. Verizon Wireless is the major provider of the towers that straight talk uses (as straight talk through tracfone doesn't own any towers) which means Verizon Wireless will value their own customers over another carriers customers. This means your calls are more likely to get dropped over a Verizon Wireless customer and you may lose coverage from time to time. Also, the possibility of your coverage area getting bigger and better is slim to none.

Well that's not entirely accurate; first Verizon is "the" provider to Straight Talk (ST) if you had looked at the ST map prior to the Alltel acquisition and the present day map you will notice that Verizon turned on access to the entire newly formed network.

The best way to explain the coverage Verizon provides to ST is the Verizon prepaid coverage and the ST maps are identical, so yes you do not get the exact coverage as the Verizon complete network including roaming but it's pretty darn good and cannot be matched by any prepaid cellular provider.

I know by personal experience that the ST phone when use side by side with a phone on the Verizon network in northern Calif and Northern Nevada are the same.

With this knowledge I am confidant recommending Straight Talk as an excellent alternative to the high price prepaid or postpaid cell phone providers.
:)

OK so they are not verizon, but they do work off their towers, and in my area are the only phones that are reliable except for verizon. The only point I was trying to make is that someone has a plan that is reasonable and if verizon works for you so will Straight talk. I am so happy verizon can kiss off and I'll keep all the extra money I don't give them anymore. The service I have now is every bit as good as I had with verizon.
