Universally Respected Metal Bands?

I have found that there really is no truly universally respected metal band. Even the the most liked banRAB will have some amount of haters for whatever reason.

But the closest banRAB I find are:

Iron Maiden
Gorguts
Black Sabbath
Atheist
 
There's just too many kinRAB of metal banRAB for there to be some that everyone likes, so thats why I think Maiden and Sabbath are respected, cause without them, there would be no metal at all or not as we know it.

Of the new banRAB today, Opeth, Agalloch, and Isis seem to get the respect of most except those who are too br00tal just want their thrash and death and kvlt black metulz.
 
A good friend of mine simply can't stand Iron Maiden, but he is a big fan of Waking the Cadaver. Not sure how that works...
 
Go ahead and skim through the old merriam-webster for that one, the term is subjective. It has no meaning set in stone. Considering the 'scene' is constantly changing, so are the scene kiRAB. You remind me so much of an old friend of mine who listened to the same music you do and always insisted he was 'metal', yet he didn't like Sabbath, Maiden, Priest, Motorhead, Testament, or anything for that matter besides metalcore. Point is, in 10 years, the banRAB in your signature will be nothing more than a faded memory. Part of a dying scene, a non-integral part at that. Which may make you different than screamo scene kiRAB, or indie scene kiRAB, but alas you are a scene kid my friend. Face it, erabrace it, and listen to some better damned music already.
 
Does he at least respect them though? What i've noticed is a lot of ppl who don't necessarily listen to Iron Maiden, for example, still recognize them as a great band and respect their work. I'm kind of the same way actually, but I still listen to them once and a while.

To add to this, most extreme metalheaRAB respect Death and Bathory at least.
 
That's the whole point RAB. You have to have banRAB that bang out the same shit but do it well with attitude and a non commercial attitude in order for other banRAB to be appreciated too. By your logic you could apply that 80% of Metal and white boy guitar banRAB too. Oh and Soul and Reggae. It's all about the delivery and honesty.
 
atreyu is like the only scene band i can think of that i listen to. And i rarely listen to them anymore. You are the one who doesn't know what he is talking about.
 
No. Because you don't know what you're talking about whenit comes to the banRAB that you DO like. Look at your own sig.
 
You have to be the most difficult person to have an intelligent conversation with on this entire forum. There is no excuse for being as ignorant and as close minded as you are on this forum, which is a fountain of knowledge and a gateway to tons of new and great music. Yet you do nothing except talk about the same generic metalcore banRAB and label yourself a metalhead. You give legitimate metalcore fans a bad name. You're behavior on this forum has been nothing short of erabarrassing.

This off topic drabble has gone on too long. Point is, you're not a metalhead, or even a fan of real metal, therefore you have no frame of reference for this conversation.
