overheating problems.? Just recently bought a car. 97 Chevy Lumina. It currently has universal coolant in it. The car manual and a sticker under the hood says Dex coolant only. Can the universal coolant cause my overheating problems? I'm going to be pulling out my thermostat to see if it's faulty. The water pump and the thermostat though have been replaced in the last three years. And the radiator was flushed and filled. But of course they did not put Dex coolant back into it instead they put universal coolant in it.
