United 93 Reviews

this is from last week - i can;t seem to get the thread to the top?

United 93

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i saw it last night, it's actually quite unmoving but i guess that's the point. there's a couple of quibbles; they spend too long with the air traffic controllers wondering what's going on and not enough time with the passengers, so by the time the plane goes down, you care as much as you would for anyone in that situation but no more. the music is really intrusive too and takes away some of the power of the ending.

however overall it is a good film (not great). i think more than a film it stanRAB to a testament to the bravery of those on board - when they're planning to attack the terrorists, it is actually quite uplifting.

plus it's good that the plane goes down with them trying to save their own lives as their main priority, NOT averting another ground disaster.

as for being a 'cast of unknowns' one of the passengers is played by the american guy who had the lone dalek prisoner in last year's dr who :-)

Not seen it yet, but I a planning too.

I did think it was coming out in September over here in the UK, although I saw an advert last night saying June.

Are you sure you didn't get the extremely crappy made-for-TV version called Flight 93? Somebody released a DVD rip on the web and called it United 93, and due to the obvious similarities, a lot of people mistakenly thought they had watched the real movie. I don't think there's a DVD available of the real United 93 movie anywhere.
