Hi all I have been having a weird problem with my Bev 3120 system (2 3100 irds w/1 dish). The one receiver seems more suseptible to the problem as it does have more length of cable running then the other, I may need an amplifier. Anyways the problem receiver tonight displays an Error 002 satellite is temp unavailable message on channel 210 CBC-T (trans4)..but the other receiver gets 210 CBC-T fine with no problems...what is weird is that when I turn the working receiver to 210 then 210 comes in on the other receiver just fine but as soon as I change then good receiver off of 210 then the problem receiver reverts back to the Error 002 satellite is temp unavailable message. When I check under the installation/dish pointing menu I can see that the problem receiver is getting locks on odd transponders but not even..and I have fixed this before by cleaning the cable contacts on the dish outside to allow better signal from the receiver to dish to cure this problem as I have not done this yet tonight...I just found it weird that the error message cleared up as soon as the other receiver was put on the same channel yet re-appears immediately once the good receiver is changed off the problem channel. Just looking to hear some input...I anticipate cleaning the coax connector will cure this problem.

Perhaps the sw-21 switch is dying. It's time to buy DP lnbs. Always be sure to keep water out of the cables. General 900mhz splitters should not be used in your system.

Hi thanks for your reply...to my knowledge I have no switch installed its just 2 direct lengths of cable from the LNB to the each receiver the working receiver has a run cable length of probably 30 maybe 40ft...the problematic receiver has a cable length of about 75 to 85ft. I just disconnected the lines of the end of the lnb this morning and cleaned coax line with isopropyl and reattached the lines to the lnb and voila the odds and evens on the problematic receiver are coming in fine 80 to 85% signal strength and the issues have cleared up again .....for now.

Thanks for the input,

Shaun

The installer did install drip loops however ....the problems had been rectified this morning by cleaning the coax contacts at the lnb and that fixed the problem temp now its has gone back to not locking on evens...i disconnected every connection in the cable to clean and no luck now with locking on evens...very frustrating....any tips?

Did the most basic thing and has cured the problem once again...maybe temp...removed sat coax from back of IRD and then re-connected it and everything again is peachy.....I'm guessing the voltage from the IRD all the way to the lnb is extremely weak and is causing this problem??? do I need an inline amp to correct this problem? if so what should I be looking for in terms of an amp and how far in between the length can the amp be put...I noticed the installer has a nice little break about the 40ft mark in the 75 to 85ft cable length...I wonder if an inline amp it this point would make a difference?
