Unintended consequences of Sampling Music

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

First it was Vanilla Ice ruining "Under Pressure" for me in c1991

Now Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls" is destroying Stand by Me one overplay at a time.

Anyone else share in my pain?

It happens a lot in most modern r&b and mainstream rap acts, a lot of artists will base their entire song on a sample and simply perform over it. I can't stand it when it's that uninspired. Kanye West comes to mind instantly, i'm pretty sure he only sampled Curtis Mayfield's 'Move On Up' so that people would recognise that tune and it'll sell due to that.
With me i often end up being turned on to the artists that an act have sampled. An example is Public Enemy's 'She Watch Channel Zero?', i heard that and thought the riff was awesome so went out and got Slayer's Reign In Blood.

Have you guys heard Diddy's song that samples the whole guitar riff of Kashmir? The name isn't coming to my head, but I remeraber being depressed the rest of the day.

it was called 'come with me'. wouldn't really call it sampling considering jimmy page played the actual part for diddy's version.

That's a good example nonetheless because it does change your perspective on the song. It sort of has ruined Kashmir for me.

Why get annoyed?

I remeraber when Will Smith ripped off The Clash's Rock The Casbah. It didn't annoy me , I just laughed at the fact that someone as 'talented' as Will Smith had to resport to nicking a 20 year old Clash tune to get a hit.
