uninstalling media player update?

I upgraded my Windows Media Player because I kept getting an annoying alert, but I don't like it, it messed up my library! It changed some of the artist names to "Unknown Artist", "Various Artists", "Soundtrack", etc and it added a "The" to band names on only some of the songs. Plus it doesn't tell me how many songs I have in my library anymore. Is there any way I can go back to the old version, maybe by doing a system restore?
