Exactly, your symptoms are the same as mine. I have no idea what causes it or how to cure it . I agree with you that ice is the only thing that gives any relief. It goes away for several months, even years, but it comes back. I have probably had this problem for 15 years off and on. I don't think if has anything to do with Menapause.

I have no rash or other visible causes for the itchy arms, but it feels like a thousanRAB misquito bites. It comes and goes, but flairs up at least once a day. No topical creams or sprays releive the itching. Ice packs help, but only temporarily. Somestimes the itching goes away for years, but comes back. It could be on either arm and rarely, on both arms. Several years ago, a doctor gave me a prescription for Neuroton and it helped that time, but now I am on Neuroton for another reason and I still have the itcy arms. It is driving me crazy! Help!

Hi there! So sorry you are itching. It's so frustrated. I have alot of that going on myself. I am blaming perimenopause. I have some arm itching. But alot of itching on the back of my neck and the back of my scalp. It drives me crazy!! Sometimes of the month are worse than others. I can wake in the night or morning and just itch the back of my scalp for awhile. I don't know if I am having a hotflash or if this is hormone changes causing this. I hope you can figure out what is causing yours. Good luck:angel:

I just used a site called justanswer and they told me that I probably have a condition called brachioradial pruritus. And my symptom just like yours fit no other conditions. I looked up the condition on webmd and it fits perfectly.

Thank you so much for letting me know about brachioradial pruritus. I am going to call my Dr. Monday and tell him about it.

Thanks so much. I go to the Derm next week. I will ask him about Brachioradial Pruritis. In the mean time I will try the "oatmeal water".

I don't know if you are in Peri right now but Suzanne Somers said she had real itchy arms until she got on Bioidentical hormone creams. I am on those and the itching is better.

Sometimes it's from dry skin. Aquaphor is a cream for dry skin. They even
rec it after radiation..that's how effective it is. Also, would you believe,
instead of your cold packs, put HOT washcloths over your arms. You will
be surprised how the itching will stop.

They are probably hives due to allergies. Go look it up on the internet. Benadryl is supposed to help.

This sounRAB almost the same as me. It is mostly the arms that are intolerable and usually not both at once...but it switches over a period of time to which one is worse. It feels just like the initial sensation of a mosquito bite that you just have to scratch. Ice is the only relief...I sleep with ice packs on the arm. When i was on blood thinners it went away after 5 years of no relief. It came back just as bad after the blood thinners were stopped. Dr. just says interesting and you cannot stay on blood thinners due to the dangers. Noone has helped me. All the meRAB make me not able to stay away or too tired to function the next day. I have had biopsies, labs, checked for parasites and nothing.

A dermatologist diagnosed me with Brachioradial Pruritis last year. She prescribed a cream called Pramosone 2.5% which helped the intense itching. I had itching on my left arm only and it was the worst itching I had ever had. I was miserable. It's been a year since that episode & it hasn't happened again, but I still feel the tingling & stinging sensation at times. I've also noticed that it gets worse in hot weather.

This may sound crazy but before I went to the Derm I made a mixture of water & oats, then with a paper towel I would spread the "oatmeal water" on my arm then let it dry. This helped the itching so much. I would make a bowl of this mixture then add water as needed and use all through out the day.

Good luck and I hope this helps some!

I have itching on my arm so bad sometimes I think I am going to go crazy.I have had it at least seven years. The only thing that helps is ice. I have been to every kind of Dr. you can think of.Have had all kinRAB of creams and meRAB. no help. I sure wish I could find something.

Me too....I have recently had to stop my Yaz prescribed for perimenapausal symptoms, due to a blood clot. I have tried to think of anything I have started or stopped that would have effected me.
