Undiagnosed chest pain - driving me crazy!

This started mid February, started getting chest "cramping" under breastbone and noticed occasional reflux in throat. Took OTC meds off and on which seemed to help but it didn't go away.

Finally went to doc after 2 months since I was still getting the chest cramps and reflux - had barium swallow (normal) and upper abdomenal ultrasound (normal) and was put on Nexium. Stopped taking the Nexium after 1 month because it's so expensive and switched to Prilosec. I had an EKG and heart echo this past week and results were normal.

The reflux is pretty much gone and I want to stop taking the pills! I still get the chest cramping - kind of like a dull pinching feeling - under my left breast and sometimes near armpit which can last for hours at a time or be gone for a few days. I belch more than usual and it seems to feel good when I do! The chest pain is not unbearable but scares me. I am at a loss and wonder if my stomach/esophagus is just really irritated and still needs to heal? I bought aloe vera juice this week to try. If I have GERD or hernia wouldn't the barium swallow have shown that?

Anyone experience dull ongoing chest "pinching" with no diagnosis and it went away or find anything that helps? Please share your experiences and remedies! Thanks!

Since the doc put you on nexium, it sounds like a change in your diet may help. I am on prilosec twice a day for an ulcer which took months to heal. In the meantime, a low fat diet, no spices, no milk or cheese products, no fruits or juices, helped me. You may want to check an ulcer diet out, it probably couldn't hurt. A person can suddenly start producing too much acid in their stomach, and this causes the symptoms, which is what the prilosec takes care of, and this combined with a change in diet may help. The diet is temporary, a few weeks or more. Good luck to you
