underrated show IMHO

I don`t mind the comedy aspect either; at times it bordered on lampshading, satire, parody, and general deconstruction of the superhero genre on what is otherwise a general teen superhero show.

But the writers suffered from abusing it too much and the series ended up with too many "ha-ha"s during serious events. It often unfortunately resulted in a poor balance between drama and comedy, something I know the show is capable of, but never fully quite grasped. Now I`m more intrigued on Steve Marmel`s proposal of Season Three where he stated would have been darker. The mind ponders...

But they focus a lot more on polygonal shapes that have corners, and only round off the edges. Like how the panda dude from Yin Yang Yo just has a rounded rectangle for a head.

And even that had it's mixed degrees of comedy and drama (though don't get me wrong, it's my favorite episode). I think the major offender for me is "Kindred Spirits", though I suppose I'm biased because I'm a Vlad Masters fan: After Danny and Danielle completely screwed up his "perfect clone" project, he got into some serious Villainous Breakdown along with one of the greatest "NOOOOOO"s I've ever heard. He's about to go cuh-razy with murder until Danny ghostly wails him. To add insult to injury, the Maddie hologram declares she loves the Jack program. Such a powerful scene that went unhitched...until the Jack program appears to deliver his usual comedic route.

The scene--though still emotionally intriguing--was just ruined by that two second shot. It had potential and captures the sense of drama this show CAN do, but it was ruined by last minute humor. Shame.

To be frank with you, that 'Jack program' bit killed me. To look at it another way, it's a pretty good look at Vlad's mental state; a sane person wouldn't have included such a program, but Vlad, being the apparent glutton for punishment, just had to have it....or maybe as a motivational tool to not end up like the buffoon. Who can say?

For me, the 'Jazz comforts Danny' scene of "My Brother's Keeper" could've been one of the most touching moments on the show (and in all of animation) had it not been ruined by "Eww! Gross!". If only the writers had more discipline...

I never said anything about why Vlad kept the Jack program (I have my theories he used it as a means for target practice or just to get out all his mental aggression---gehehe). I just said the Jack program killed the overall drama of that particular scene.

Here's the kicker: THAT scene didn't bother me. Yes, I thought the "Eww! Gross!" comment ruined it a bit, but I felt it fit with his current feelings for his sister and the conflictingly slow, but growing relationship he has for her. He appreciates her help and that smile he gives after that kiss just melts my heart, but even though he expressed disgust, it showed he had a long way to go to understand and accept Jazz into his little circle.
