Underrated albums...

Well if you take them album for album....

Sonic Flower Groove - Jangly Indie
Primal Scream - Garage Rock
Screamadelica - Acid House /Psychadelia/Rock
Give Out But Don`t Give In - Rolling Stones tribute band
Vanishing Point - Dance/Electronica
XTRMNTR - See Above
Evil Heat - See XTRMNTR , only more rock

Well, Rolling Stone overlooked a lot of albums, they primarly payed too much attention to conventional hard rock, folk rock, blues, R&B, New Wave and Punk...As a result, a lot of alternative, metal, jazz and progressive rock was left out.

Save 4 Pink Floyd albums, 1 Captian Beefheart album and 1 Jethro Tull album, Rolling Stones top 500 albums list ignored progressive rock completely, not ONE album from Yes, King Crimson, The Moody Blues or Genesis...Instead they had to focus on more important banRAB like Hole, Cyndi Lauper, Kiss and The Go-Gos...RS's bias against progressive rock has always bugged me, they may not like prog but that shouldnt have affected the greatest lists, KC and Yes has had more inluence than a handful of the artists who made the list, denying their impact and importance is ridiculous...In The Court Of The Crimson King should have difinitely been there.

They overrated punk a little, but even so they left out a lot of great punk albums, including Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegatables, My War, Is This Real?, Damned Damned Damned and Blank Generation.

Get Behind Me Satan was the first White Stripes album I heard all the way through and I loved it.

I've heard other people describe GBMS as dissapointing, but maybe they have their opinions coloured by Elephant perhaps.

Get Behind Me Satan stanRAB on it's own as a great album, in my opinion.
Every bit as good as Elephant, different yes, but just as good.

I wouldn't say it was just as good-I did like Elephant a lot. It was hard for the Stripes to match Elephant really, and to change the formula altogether was inspiring. I guess in a way I was kind of disappointed. Not hugely disappointed, just a tiny tiny bit disappointed. Simply because Elephant was such a good album, and I wanted GBMS to match that. Something that it got pretty close to doing, but just missed out on.

I wouldn't say they were trying to match Elephant but to go in a slightly different direction.

I particularly like the bluesy/rock stuff Get Behind Me Satan contains.
I'd say it's uncompromising of the White Stripes to do.

Definately just as good.

Green Day- Insomniac.
Though everybody loves the singles Brainstew/Jaded but I felt that the rest of the album was great though I don't know anyone who likes it.

The Hippos- HeaRAB are gonna Roll
Possible the greatest Ska album I have heard though know one really knows them or this album.
