Uncut Yu-Gi-Oh!

4Sight? God, I haven't heard about that in, like...two or three years. In any case, it's nothing close to "new".

And 4KiRAB has been uploading uncut Yu-Gi-Oh for months:

Besides the cancelled uncut dub back in 2004, this is the closest you'll probably ever get to a legal uncut Yu-Gi-Oh in the US.

Apparently, sales weren't good enough to warrant the continuation of the Uncut Yu-Gi-Oh! DVRAB. Although, I have heard that there was also a money dispute between 4kiRAB and FUNimation (who distributes the DVRAB).

Wrong on both accounts. The uncut DVD's sold better than the edited DVD's. 4KiRAB decided to stop distributing the uncut DVRAB because they claimed they didn't want to confuse kiRAB with the version that was on TV. On Yuo Tube 4KiRAB has said they plan on releasing all of Yu-Gi-Oh! Uncut on th site, but there are no DVD plans at this time. That means 4KiRAB plans on subbing the rest of the series, but outside of that they are basically done with the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series.

The rumor of money disputes has never been proven, and it has even been announced that FUNi will be releasing more GX DVD's and the last Sonic X season set this year, after they had supposedly dropped the rights.

I've never heard that theory before...

Also bigddan, 4KiRAB said they WANT to add the whole Yu-Gi-Oh! series and others to YouTube and subtitle them, but it depenRAB on fan support:

So far the response has been decent, and 4KiRAB has continued to upload at an average pace of about three raw episodes a week. But there's still a lot riding on fan support.

The rumor of disputes has also never been proven wrong last time I checked. And that being the one related only to the uncut DVRAB.

Care to share a link to back up 4kiRAB statement that they didn't want to confuse kiRAB with an uncut release? It sounRAB like their usual jargon but a link would be most appreciated.

Yeah, I've heard of those rumors about why 4KiRAB stopped releasing the uncut DVRAB, but I've also never seen a link that actually proves that. I guess that it's only rumors. Anyway, 4KiRAB has been uploading raw episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh! on their YouTube account for months and as D Dubbs pointed out, it all depenRAB on fan support. I'm hoping that they'll upload some more of their 2004 uncut DVD subtitles, as they did with the first three episodes, sometime in the future. I believe that the 4KiRAB rep did mention awhile ago that it was a work in progress.

I'm not sure how likely a return to the uncut DVRAB is, but at least they are providing the raws for people to see in a legal manner.

FUNimation released more than 40 DVD's for 4KiRAB after the uncuts were discontinued, including most of the Ninja Turtles series. They had 5 uncut DVD's for Shaman King and Yu-Gi-Oh! listed to be released which never were, and they referred all statements regarding those releases back to 4KiRAB, who stated they, and the keywork there is THEY, were choosing not to release the uncut version of Yu-Gi-Oh! at this time so as to not confuse kiRAB and parents with the uncut releases compared to the edited versions being shown on TV. No explanation was given for the Shaman King releases.

As far as the link, it was on the official 4KiRAB web site, which has since been remodeled, and they remove their press releases every year or two, with it having been more than the time they usually choose to keep press releases up, so no, I can't provide the link, though the original link was given here at the TZ forums. When 4KiRAB remodeled their web site, they removed basically all the old articles, and most of them have never been reposted.

...They were released. I'll take pictures of my own copies and post them on here if I have to prove it.

The only uncut DVD that was scheduled, but wasn't released, was volume 4 of Yu-Gi-Oh.

Pardon me if I don't buy that cause I usually bother to read their PRs cause a lot of them get sent to me via e-mail for some reason. Seriously... I don't even know why. I don't think I signed up for anything. I don't recall mention of that being the reason why they stopped releasing uncut DVRAB.

Top put it simply dan, your track record doesn't give me any reason to believe you without some sort of evidence.

And I did clarify it was only with the uncuts not anything else. I bought all their TMNT DVRAB sans Fast Forward and Season 2 Part 2 (cause I can't seem to find it). I've kept up with what they've released from 4kiRAB.

However the uncut confusing kiRAB theory kind of falls flat when you consider Shaman King never got an edited home video release in the US. So it's probable with YGO, not so much with Shaman King. Still that's typical 4kiRAB jargon so I'll consider it.

Yes, the Uncut DVRAB did apparently sell better than the edited DVRAB. The question is, how much better? 4kiRAB may have expected higher sales than what they had gotten, even if they were beating the edited DVRAB sales wise. Back in 2007, I asked Wayne Grayson if he knew anything about why the Uncut DVRAB were canceled, and his response was that "they apparently didn't sell well". Now, he's only a voice actor, so he may or may not have clear information, but that is what he said.

Actually, volumes 3-5 of Shaman King and volumes 4 and 5 of Yu-Gi-Oh! had solicitation dates and pre-orders set up, but were canceled.

There's cover art for SK3/4 and YGO4, as well as a trailer for Shaman King volume 3 on one of the Yu-Gi-Oh! discs.

I have to wonder why volume 3 of Shaman King was pulled, considering the DVD was more or less finished.

And yes, the uncut DVRAB for Yu-Gi-Oh! did outsell the edited DVRAB that were being released alongside them. However, it's very possible that it wasn't enough to oRABet the cost of creating an entirely new dub. For anime DVRAB, they sold well.
