unable to send sms-Nokia N73-T-mobile USA-

No name?

New member
I just bought a Nokia N73 latest firmware 2.0628.0.0.3 (greek version) and was trying to send an sms with my T-mobile service but receive the following error:

unable to send message: XXXXXX (where XXX= the phone number).

When I tried to send a SMS using a SIM from a European mobile carrier I had no problem sending a message.
I have also reset the phone and tried sending the message with the phone freshly reset to factory settings, same error.

When I use my t-mobile SIM in my old motorola T193 I was able to send a SMS so my account should be setup correctly. Also spent an hour with t-mobile technical support and they basically said that there was nothing else they could do and I should wait for the US firmware to come out to see if that problem will be fixed.

Any suggestions? Anyone with T-mobile and the N73?

I have the same issue on a Nokia E70 on T-Mobile. I can send MMS, I have recieved SMS, I can send with my SIM in my old phone, but all my outgoing SMS fail with "Unable to send message: XXXXX"

I have tripple checked message center number, i am not usng GPRS (as T-mobile instructed). Any ideas ayone?

I forgot to post an update with the solution this problem. The SIM card I had was old and would not work with the newer phone. I used another SIM card from a friends phone and it worked. I called the company and told them of my discovery and they told me to stop a store to get a new SIM card.
This happened after two phone calls to technical support and their final response was basically that I should have selected a phone from them and they were sorry they couldn't help me. (not to T-mobile if you read this forum, if you had decent phones I probably would have...)

Anyway, I stopped by a t-mobile store and got a new SIM card. This resolved the failed SMS problem and I have not had any issues since.

The only other glitch that is still annoying me is that when I power the phone on I get a notice that I have a new voicemail when in fact I don't. After I dial into my voice mailbox I get a no messages announcement and the phone gets rid of that message. I have updated the phone to the latest firmware, still no resolution. Anyone have any suggestions?

solution has been posted many times. you can find it. search for dummy vioce mail indicator (DMI i think will do as well)

got it for you: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1032832&highlight=dummy+voice+mail+indicator

Supplier,
thanks for pointing out the solution. However it didn't work for me. I followed the suggested solution , called and deleted a voicemail from a locked nokia phone but I am still getting the dummy voicemail notification. Have done it 3 times now, no difference...

This didnt work for me either. Not only that, but using the "*" key at the end doesnt hang up either. It just keeps replaying the last message for menu options.
